The right seat cover for a 2027 Volkswagen Taos depends on the trim, because the Taos has five trims and the seats change from cloth to CloudTex to leather across them. Volkswagen added a Taos Sport trim for 2027, so the lineup now runs Taos S, Taos Sport, Taos SE, Taos SE Black and Taos SEL. Heated front seats are part of the Taos SE, and ventilated front seats are part of the Taos SEL, so a seat cover has to work with different equipment depending on the trim.
What Should You Check Before Buying Seat Covers for a 2027 Volkswagen Taos?
Check your trim, your upholstery, your seat heating, your seat ventilation, your power seat, your rear seat and your owner's manual, in that order. The trim comes first because it determines the answers to the next four checks. The 2027 Taos seats five and starts at $26,500 MSRP for the Taos S with front-wheel drive.
1. Confirm Your 2027 Volkswagen Taos Trim
Volkswagen's 2027 Taos lineup comprises the Taos S, Taos Sport, Taos SE, Taos SE Black and Taos SEL. The Taos S starts at $26,500 MSRP with front-wheel drive and $28,200 with 4Motion all-wheel drive. Read the trim from your window sticker or original paperwork. Our page on common questions about Volkswagen vehicles answers other ownership questions.
2. Identify the Upholstery on Your 2027 Volkswagen Taos
The Taos S has two-tone black and grey cloth upholstery. The Taos Sport has black and gray cloth seats with yellow stitching. The Taos SE and Taos SE Black use CloudTex and cloth materials, in two different two-tone options on the Taos SE and all black on the Taos SE Black. The Taos SEL has leather seating surfaces in either a two-tone black and grey combination or dark blue. Our guide on cloth vs leather car seats compares the surfaces.
3. Check Whether Your 2027 Volkswagen Taos Has Seat Heating
The Taos SE includes heated front seats. Seat heating for the Taos S and Taos Sport is not confirmed in this post, which does not mean those trims lack it, so check the window sticker for those trims. A seat cover adds a layer between you and the seat heater, so it can change how quickly warmth reaches you. Our perforated eco-leather seat covers are designed to keep that difference small, so test the heating after installation. Our blog on whether seat covers are safe for heated seats has the details on what to check.
4. Check Whether Your 2027 Volkswagen Taos Has Ventilated Seats
The Taos SEL has ventilated front seats, and Volkswagen's Taos page lists ventilated leather seats as an available feature. Ventilation on other trims is not confirmed in this post, which does not mean those trims lack it, so check the window sticker. Any layer over a ventilated seat can affect airflow. Perforated eco-leather is designed to let air through, and you should check the ventilation after installation. Our guide to breathable seat covers for summer is a useful companion.
5. Check for the 8-Way Power Driver Seat
The Taos SE includes an 8-way power driver seat with lumbar support. Keep the seat controls uncovered, and run the seat through its full range after installation. Our list of seat types and configurations for car seat covers helps you record what your seats have.
6. Plan for the Rear Seat and Cargo Area
The Taos offers 65.9 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats folded. If you fold the rear seat regularly, fold each side once after installation to confirm that it still moves as it did before. Our full set includes 2 front seat covers, 2 headrest covers and 1 back bench seat cover, and it covers 5 seats, which matches the five seats in the Taos. The full set costs $389, the front-only set costs $279, and both include a 3-year warranty.
7. Read the Owner's Manual and Test Every Seat Feature
Whether a seat cover works safely with side airbags depends on the seat cover's design and how it is installed. Read your owner's manual and our guide on seat covers and side airbags before installing. The functional tests in the earlier points confirm that your seat features still work. They do not establish that a seat cover is approved for your vehicle.

Matching Seat Cover Colors to Your 2027 Volkswagen Taos Interior
Color is a styling choice, and the suggestions here are our team's, not Volkswagen's. A Taos S with two-tone black and grey cloth pairs naturally with our Black & Grey seat cover. A Taos Sport owner who likes the yellow stitching may prefer a solid Black seat cover that leaves the interior understated. A Taos SEL with dark blue leather pairs with our Black & Blue option. We offer seven colors in total: Black, Black & Grey, Wine Red, Beige, Black & Red, Black & White and Black & Blue. Our guide to custom color-matched seat covers shows how to compare them.
Conclusion
Complete the seven checks in order, and the decision becomes straightforward. A 2027 Volkswagen Taos S or Taos Sport owner protects cloth. A Taos SE includes heated front seats and an 8-way power driver seat, and a Taos SEL includes leather and ventilated front seats, although the window sticker lists the complete equipment for either trim. Our post on why eco-leather is the best seat cover material describes the material, and our guide to maintaining seat covers gives a simple care routine. Our seat cover installation FAQs answer common fitting questions. Vehicle details in this post reflect Volkswagen's 2027 Taos press kit and model page. Equipment can change during a model year, so the window sticker on your vehicle is the final word.
